How a project works, in writing.

Paying for the work

50% to start, 50% at launch. The deposit books your place in my schedule and is what lets me write your copy and build your pages before the site is paid off. The balance is due at launch, and the site doesn’t go live until the balance is paid. You see the finished site before you pay it — if you’re not happy, it doesn’t launch and we keep working.

Cancelling, and your deposit

The 50% deposit is refunded in full if you cancel before I start work. Once work has started, the deposit isn’t refundable, but you keep everything built up to that point.

Changes

Two rounds of changes are included in every build. After that, changes are $65 each, covering up to 30 minutes of work, and anything bigger is quoted before I start it.

If a round is needed because I got something wrong or missed what you asked for, it’s free. The $65 is for new requests and changes of mind, not for my mistakes.

What you own

The domain is registered in your name, with your email on the account and the login in your hands, from the first day. When the balance is paid, the finished site is yours — the pages, the text I wrote for you, the images you provided, and the files themselves. You can take all of it to another developer at any time, without asking me.

Hosting and renewals

Your site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, set up in your own Cloudflare account. Hosting is free. The only recurring cost is the domain renewal, usually $10–20 a year, paid directly to the registrar. You own both accounts.

On the care plan I handle hosting, the domain renewal and the monitoring for you, and the cost is included in the monthly fee.

The care plan

The care plan is month to month. You can cancel any time, and it stops at the end of the month you’ve paid for. Cancelling doesn’t affect anything you own: the site and the domain stay yours, and I hand back any account I was holding for you.

If a project stalls

If I need something from you — photos, answers, approval — and don’t hear back, I’ll send a reminder at 14 days. After 30 days without a reply, the project is paused. You can pick it back up within 90 days at no extra cost, with a new launch date. After 90 days the project is closed, the deposit covers the work done, and restarting is quoted as a new project.

The agreement

Your written quote — what the site includes, what it costs, and the launch date — plus this page make up the agreement between us. If the two ever disagree, the quote wins, because it was written for your project specifically. Anything outside the quote is priced before I start it.
